Dear Academy Family, I often tell our scholars that the Academy is a community, not a crowd. “Community” is how you describe a people who live out a common mission, and are prepared to sacrifice for that mission. Our mission is to assist parents in forming their sons and daughters into Christian gentlemen and ladies through rigorous training in the liberal arts. This formation prepares young men and women to serve Church and society through virtuous leadership, scholarship, and evangelization of the culture. This year you have all, one way or another, sacrificed to carry on this mission. Day by day students, parents, and teachers carried out the tasks required of them, without fanfare and in spite of the world around them grown suddenly more uncertain. The result of this perseverance is that we approach the finish line able to say with Saint Paul, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7). My thanks to each one of you for going the distance with us. Let us continue to pray for one another over the summer. Our Lady of The Atonement—Pray for Us! Your servant, Matthew David Watson Head of School
