When was the last time you ate dinner as a family? It wasn’t until last night over a meal of pasta, homemade marinara sauce, broccoli, and pinot noir (adults only!), lovingly prepared by my wife, that I realized how busy this time of year has become. I had a palpable sense of recalibration as the kids shared the highlights of their day, as we made various references to
Watership Down, a family favorite that several of us had read recently, and as we prayed and laughed together.
The family is the primary community from which individual persons, child or adult, are designed to derive meaning. We are all busy, but let’s not get too busy for a good family dinner.
