This week I have news from Mrs. Powell, our College and Guidance Counsellor. Below is her update on our seniors’ college activities.
The Atonement Class of 2020 continues to raise the bar of academic excellence. So far this year, the first semester average GPA for the 2020 class is 92.0, which is a 5 percent increase from last year’s senior class. The average SAT score for the 2020 class is 1293. This is a 15 percent increase from last year (see attachment which shows gains in both reading and math SAT scores).
Meantime, our Atonement seniors are being accepted into prestigious universities across the state and country. We have three seniors who have been given Presidential Scholarships or a full ride to leading local universities. Two seniors have also looked beyond the state and are applying to prestigious universities such as: Columbia, Princeton, Georgetown, University of Pittsburgh, and Syracuse. Five out of our sixteen seniors have been accepted to Texas A&M University. One senior was recently accepted into the University of Utah. Lastly, we have a senior w auditioning for Texas Tech University School of Music. We await to hear of their acceptances.
As we begin the 3rd quarter, our seniors have earned more than $407,000 in scholarships to date. Congratulations to our students for their hard work AND our dedicated staff who have played a huge roll in the Class of 2020’s success. I look forward to updating this list in the coming months.
Thank you Mrs. Powell and well done seniors! Please pray for our seniors as they continue to discern their vocations and their next steps in pursuing them.
