I had a bit of an epiphany last Saturday. I arrived on campus in the late morning to surrender my car to the seventh grade carwash. I pulled in at the end of a long row of wet vehicles and the seventh graders got to work. Having some time on my hands I began to wander about.
I noticed a group of unfamiliar parents watching the carwash assembly line. A glance through the gym doors revealed that CYO volleyball had filled the bleachers with visiting teams and families. Walking toward the parking lot, I first passed the Sacred Heart Chapel where weekly adoration was underway and then the big red church doors past which Saturday morning confessions had been held earlier in the morning. Continuing through the packed parking lot I came to edge of the athletic fields where still more activity was underway—a soccer game had just ended and a hungry line was forming at Booster Club barbecue stand.
And that’s when the epiphany came. Here I was, a member of a vibrant parish and school community that, if I was seeing it for the first time, would be exactly the sort of community I would want to be a part of! What a blessing to journey and serve with each of you.
Let us continue to pray for one another. Our Lady of The Atonement—Pray For Us!
